A relaxed riverside base for your mountain exploits
Sitting at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, this relaxed Austrian village is much quieter than neighbouring Zell am See, its peaceful vibe providing an instant appeal. Traditional architecture, low-rise buildings and a friendly local atmosphere give Kaprun a charm that makes it easy to forget you’re in a resort town. Despite its size, you’ll find an excellent range of restaurants and bars within easy reach. Kaprun is overlooked by its prized attraction, Kaprun Castle. Built in the 12th century, this medieval marvel is an easy stroll from the village centre and offers lovely views over the settlement.
