Why go on an Austria Easter skiing holiday?

After some high-altitude fun on the slopes this April? Look no further than an Austria Easter ski holiday. Filled to the brim with wide, laid-back cruisy pistes, incredible family-friendly resorts, and some of the best views in the Alps, Easter ski holidays to Austria are a real-life Narnian adventure (minus the Turkish delight and Mr. Tumnus).
Whether it's your little piste pup's first foray on the slopes or you have a tribe of powderhounds in the making, Austria April ski holidays offer plenty to keep all skiers and boarders entertained. Kitzsteinhorn Glacier’s high altitudes keep the snow spinning all the way to May, while Kaprun and Tux's children's parks give your little rippers plenty to get stuck into. And when it comes to off-the-slopes, non-skiers are spoilt for choice with wintry thrills, soothing spas, and delicious Tyrolean eats.
With over 100 Austria ski resorts to choose from, our Heidi skiing experts have done the Easter ski holiday searching for you. From the uncrowded slopes of See to the glitz and glamour of Kitzbühel, here are the best Austria Easter ski resorts we recommend taking a look at this April:

1. Kaprun

An undisputed kingpin for Austria Easter ski holidays, Kaprun is one of our customers' most-loved family favourites for good reason. Set within a sweeping river valley surrounded by glittering glacier views, this quaint resort oozes that classic Austrian resort charm. Think big skiing, big mountains, and a big ol’ scoop of snowspun fun.
Mini skiers will be spoilt for choice on a Kaprun Easter ski holiday, with (literally) mountains of mellow greens and cruisy blues. The warm and welcoming family ski area on the Miaskogel piste is ideal for those still finding their ski legs, with top-rated ski schools, gentle nursery slopes, and wide, quiet blues. While the kids are busy perfecting their snow ploughs, parents can let rip on the legendary Kitzsteinhorn Glacier with blues, reds, and blacks. And there's no need to worry about spring slush- at up to 3000m high, Kaprun is one of Europe's snowiest spots, with the white stuff staying put here until July!
Off the slopes:
If you can tear kids away from the skiing, take them up the mountain to experience the awesome panoramas at the Gipfelwelt glacier viewpoint. Or, if you can't extract them from the pistes, shake things up with a thrilling ride on the MaisiFlitzer toboggan. Race you to the bottom!

2. Tux

The gateway of Austria's legendary 3250m Hintertux Glacier, where skiing and snowboarding are on tap no less than 365 days a year, Tux Easter ski holidays bring the powder stuff in spades. Ideal for a quick Austria Easter ski weekend, Tux's territory extends all the way from Tuxertal's lofty sunny plateau to the glittering glacial slopes, with connections snaking their way all over the Zillertal’s expansive ski region.
If the 160km of beginner slopes won't keep your little tykes entertained, Tux's dedicated children's areas definitely will. Head to Eggalm Children's Park for ski carousels, magic carpets and baby lifts, or join Luis the Glacier Bug at Hinterflux's Kidsslope and Funslope for snow tunnels and a wave track. And don't worry parents, we haven't forgotten about you! When the kids are off at ski school, a dreamy mix of cruisy blues and challenging reds await, including Austria's steepest slope: the legendary Harakiri (with a gradient of 78°!)
Off the slopes:
Tux brings the winter magic both on and off the piste. Explore ice-cold glacier caves beneath a glittering ice palace, race your kids down toboggan tracks under the stars, or go on whole family snowshoe hikes to soak in stunning mountain views.

3. See

A true hidden gem, See Easter ski holidays offer relaxed, family fun away from the hustle and bustle. Tucked away in the Tyrolean Alps, the charming resort of See is ideal for families, beginners, and those just starting out. The north and south-facing slopes and 2872m-high altitudes mean snow is always flurrying, creating the ultimate April ski resort combo of powdery slopes and bright bluebird skies.
See's spacious beginner area is ideal for kiddos, with conveyor belt lifts, easy nursery slopes, and gentle gradients. While kids perfect their ski pizzas, parents can easily grab the 20-minute bus to the expansive pistes of Ischgl. With 239km of intermediate and advanced runs to explore (including the infamous Smuggler's Trail from Ischgl to Samnaun), it's a great way to stretch your ski legs—and all available on the same lift pass! Mint.
Off the slopes:
Swap skis for a toboggan to enjoy action-packed sledging runs across the Paznaun Valley, or swoosh down floodlit slopes under the stars with 'Medrig by Night'. This after-dark family event features night skiing, night tobogganing, a freestyle display by Ski School See, and traditional mountain lodges serving up a cosy mix of hot drinks, delicious snacks, and live music.

4. Serfaus

You might think of hidden gems as tiny resort diamonds dotted amongst the peaks, yet Serfaus is anything but small. With over 200km of mighty pistes - and slopes up to 2828m - Serfaus has (thus far) remained relatively undiscovered by British skiers and large tour operators, gifting this hidden gem that traditional alpine charm many other larger resorts miss out on.
As the largest town in the Upper Inn Valley, Serfaus is an Easter ski holiday haven. It offers a range of fantastic kid-friendly accommodation options, from self-service apartments to cosy bed and breakfast spots, in addition to lively restaurants, family-friendly facilities, and excellent modern high-capacity chairlifts to fit the whole tribe.
With a 214km network of slopes, this big ski area caters to all - from wobbly piste pups to well-seasoned powderhounds. On a Serfaus Easter ski trip, little ones will have a blast at the Bertas Kinderland and Kinderschneealm ski area with easy rope tows and magic carpets. Meanwhile, intermediates and advanced skiers can fill their snow boots with speedy lifts, giving access to heaps of runs, including incredible wraparound runs with jaw-dropping views over the whole valley.
Off the slopes:
Serfaus’ expansive ski area offers more than just skiing and snowboarding. Embark on thrilling adventures with boardercross, cross-country skiing, piste-bashers, skiercross, and toboggan runs. Or enjoy some leisure time with Nordic walks, snow biking, and outdoor ice skating.

5. Kitzbühel

Are you seeking some of the best Easter skiing in the heart of the Austrian Alps? Look no further than ‘Glitzy Kitz’ Kitzbühel. Voted the ‘Best ski resort in the world’ three years running, Kitzbühel Easter ski holidays pair high-end après-ski and luxury 5* hotels with World Cup winter events, rugged mountain scenery, and a range of vast, powerful pistes.
There’s a lot to shout about when it comes to family Easter ski holidays at Kitzbühel. Kids will love strutting their stuff on the valley’s free-of-charge nursery slopes, while parents will love the 45-60% children’s lift pass discounts on Saturdays and Sundays. The perfect excuse for a cheeky Austria Easter ski weekend away with the fam!
While the kids are off at ski school learning their all-important ski pizzas, teens and parents can go wild on over 230km of cruisy slopes. Modern lifts will whisk you 2,000m up the mountain to enjoy heaps of sweeping tree-lined valley runs, while freestyle fans have two fantastic terrain parks to conquer. And for the daredevils in the family, there’s Resterhöhe mountain’s challenging high-altitude pistes and Strief’s legendary downhill descent.
Off the slopes:
Look out over the mountains with a scenic cable car ride, or channel your inner adventurer with snowshoeing and winter hikes. In the evenings, take the kids for a snow-spun horse-drawn carriage ride or browse the historic town centre for holiday souvenirs and traditional Tyrolean gourmet specialities.
